The Benefits of Ginger Essential Oil

The Benefits of Ginger Essential Oil

Warm, spicy and comforting, ginger oil comes from the underground root of the flowering ginger plant. It originates from China and is closely related to turmeric and cardamom. Widely known for adding flavour to food, ginger has many other benefits and has been valued for its medicinal properties for thousands of years.

These properties, like the warming aroma, come from ginger’s natural essential oils. Gingerol in particular is thought to give ginger much of its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. It has been suggested that ginger essential oil has a positive, calming effect on the digestive system, easing nausea and indigestion, and promoting good digestive heath. It may also help treat colds, coughs and respiratory problems.

Ginger oil may also have a positive effect on mental and emotional health. In aromatherapy, the energising scent of ginger oil has been called the “oil of empowerment”. For some, it helps to bring about feelings of courage and self-assurance, relieving anxiousness, negativity and fatigue. The warming aroma can also work as a soothing, relaxing aid for encouraging sleep.

We combine the warming aroma of ginger with citrusy orange in our Orange & Ginger Himalayan Salt Scrub. With nourishing oils to enrich the skin and purifying Himalayan pink salt to gently exfoliate, this scrub leaves your skin soft, supple and radiant.

We also use orange and ginger essential oils to fragrance our luxurious whipped Orange & Ginger Body Butter. The natural oils nourish the skin and give a spicy, zesty aroma, perfect for autumn. Made with coconut oil and Shea butter, all KiteNest body butters are naturally delicate and keep skin soft and moisturised all day.
